The Journey of the Sphinx is the story of a transformation. Bored with her lying, motionless state, a stone sphinx decides, one fine day, to take flight and embark on an initiatory journey that will carry her through the landscapes and eras that make up Mediterranean culture. From Valencia to Egypt, passing through the Balearic Islands, Italy, and Greece, the colors and sensations derived from these landscapes will make you feel like a living sphinx, no longer a petrified, motionless figure. El viatge de l’esfinx reflects a search for origins that ultimately becomes an encounter with oneself.
Joan Verdú (Alzira, 1959 – Alginet, 2017) He was a draftsman and poster designer, painter, writer, and columnist. He began by creating posters and illustrations that bear a certain resemblance to the works of Manuel Boix or Miguel Calatayud, although his greatest influence was Pop Art, specifically Andy Warhol (with the permission of Pablo Picasso and Joseph Beuys). In the 1990s, he decided to focus on painting and give up everything else, holding a significant number of exhibitions in galleries and art centers.
