Book of Time is a timeline transformed into a book. It has a short, limited edition of 184 copies, each contributing its own unique specificity to the whole. An image of the sea, captured from a video, progresses throughout the edition, appearing on a different page in each book. Each copy contains the location of that landscape and the timestamp from the video it originates from, handwritten by the artist Nico Munuera. The image “appears” at a time and place determined by the sequence of the edition, but interacts with the text in a random manner. The blue image of the sea merges with the book’s content in a different location each time, generating unique results in each copy.
Book of Time is also the conversation between an artist, Nico Munuera, and an art theorist, Álvaro de los Ángeles. But above all, it is the conversation between two people who have shared experiences, work, an apartment, friends… and are interested in the art world from different perspectives yet with similar goals. The epistolary exchange maintained over a little more than six months does not provide a large number of words, but those that exist respond sincerely to their individual interests. Both present their positions on creation and subsequent reflection, on the artistic environment, and on the rhythm imposed by the market and production. And, especially, they offer some of the cross-references that inspire each of them to do what they do.
