Manifiesto. To lose the thread of the argument It brings together the twenty-four pieces of the polyptych Manifiesto by Xisco Mensua (Barcelona, 1960). Here, all the features that interest the artist are condensed: references and quotations painted on the canvases alongside complementary isolated figures; portraits of the cited writers alternating with varied scenes, such as landscapes and performative situations; a personal survey of Western cultural history; and a return to the artist’s autobiographical concerns, including childhood, illness, adolescent love, and a life with no time to waste.
All the textual information in this publication—including the title, the author’s name, the publisher’s logo and collection, as well as the back cover text or credits—has been painted by Xisco Mensua and faithfully reproduced. In this way, Manifiesto accurately reflects one of the artist’s main characteristics, whose works arise from the inseparable combination of reading, text, painting, and experience.
